How to get to Eugene, Oregon

By Plane

Eugene is served locally by the Eugene Airport (EUG), and regionally by the Portland International Airport (PDX).

Eugene Airport

Approximately 10 miles from downtown Eugene.

The Eugene Airport is a smaller, friendlier, regional airport located conveniently in the Eugene/Springfield area.

Portland International Airport

Approximately 121 miles from Euegne.

Portland International Airport is a larger metropolitain airport with connections to several international and domestic locations.

By Car

One can drive to Eugene from Portland in two hours, Seattle in 5 hours, San Francisco in 8 hours, LA in 12 hours, Salt Lake City in 14 hours, and Denver in 22 hours.

By Train

Eugene is connected with daily service from San Diego to Vancouver, British Columbia by The Coast Starlight, operated by Amtrak. Amtrak also runs several trains (and buses) per day on the Amtrak Cascades between Seattle and Eugene and both routes can be booked online. It takes 2.5 hours to get from Portland to Eugene by train, between 6 and 7 hours from Seattle, and 15 hours from San Francisco.

Conference attendees from outside the United States are urged to begin their visa application early. The waiting time can be long and varies from country to country. International registrants should be particularly aware and careful about visa requirements, and should plan travel well in advance. All visa inquiries must be handled by ACM HQ. Please send your request for a letter in support of a visa application to supportletters@acm.org with the following:

  1. Your name as it appears on your passport
  2. Current postal mailing address
  3. The name of the conference you wish to attend
  4. Your Registration Confirmation Number
  5. If you have any papers accepted for the conference, please provide the title and indicate whether you are the ‘sole author’ or a ‘co- author’
Please note visa support letters are issued via email by PDF and the original is mailed to your current postal address.

Please note that the Association for Computing Machinery does not issue formal invitation letters for visas to attend ACM sponsored conferences. For more information, see the ACM web site.

Insurance

The conference cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss or damage to private property of participants, students and accompanying persons, either during or indirectly arising from the ICS 2013. Participants should make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
