Information for Delegates

On behalf of the ICS '98 Organising Committee, I am delighted that you will be participating in the 12^th International Conference on Supercomputing to be held from 12 - 17 July 1998. The details for the Workshop and Conference follow:

Accommodation

As there is a large sporting event in Melbourne during the weekend of ICS 98, delegates are requested to book their accommodation as soon as possible.

Special Qantas Airfares

Qantas Airways Limited, the Official ICS '98 Airline, are offering special international and domestic airfare rates for delegates attending ICS '98.

Registration will be held at the following times:
Monday 13 July 1998 from 5.00pm - 6.00pm
Tuesday 14 July 1998 from 8.00am

Information For Delegates

Catering

Morning and Afternoon Tea will be served. Lunches will not be provided. Please note that there are many restaurants around the area.

Proceedings

A copy of the Conference Proceedings (CD) will be given to each fully registered delegate.

Visas

All international visitors need a valid passport for entry into Australia. Please check with your local Australian Embassies or Consulates.

Currency

Australia uses decimal currency, where on hundred cents make up a dollar. A combination of coins and notes are used. $US1.00 is approximately $AUS0.60 cents.

Banking

Automatic teller machines are situated around the city for the convenience of 24-hour banking. The most commonly accepted credit cards are American Express, Bankcard, Mastercard, Visa and Diners Club.

Smoking

Delegates are requested to refrain from smoking during the sessions and in the Conference Area.

Transport

Taxis from the Airport cost approximately $A30.00. The SKYBUS Airport Coach runs every 15 minutes to and around the city and costs $A9.00 per person.

Climate

Melbourne enjoys mostly moderate weather. In July the Avg Max is 14oC (57F) Avg Min is 7oC (45F)

Shopping Hours

Sunday shopping - Major city department stores and shopping centres are open from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

Receipts and Accommodation Booking

The Conference Office will acknowledge receipt of registration and accommodation booking by email. Official receipts will be available for collection at the Registration desk.

Incidental Expenses

Please note that the Conference Organisers will not be responsible for any incidental expenses incurred by delegates during this conference.
