• Air Travel:
  Air travel to Barcelona is convenient; Barcelona was the site of the 1992 Olympic games, and has wonderful facilities to handle lots of travelers. The airport is clean, and there are money changers near the baggage claim. I had no problems with immigration/passport control or customs.
• Getting to the Hotel:
  Lots of taxis await travelers outside the airport. It is about a 20-30 minute (20 km) ride from the airport to the Barcelona Hilton; it cost me about 1800 Ptas (pesetas) for the ride. This included an extra charge for each bag and a tip for the driver. There are additional charges for more riders. Note: The drivers typically speak Castille and Catalan, but not English. Some words look the same but sound different. It will facilitate your ride if you have your destination printed and can show it to the driver, or if you pronounce "Hilton" as "EEL-tone".
• Checking in:
  Check-in time is 3:00pm; depending on your departure city, you may arrive too early. You can try to check in early, they may have some open rooms. The clerks at the Hilton speak many languages, and the exchange rate is very reasonable.
• Trains:
  There is a train from the airport to the city, which costs about 600 Ptas. If you get off at the subway stop for the Green line, you can change to the Green line towards the University. Get off at the Maria Cristina stop (five stops, after Les Corts, before Palau Reial), and the Hilton is about 4 blocks East from the subway stop. The subway stairs come up between the two lanes of traffic on Av. Diagonal; cross the street South towards the tall dark building labelled La Caixa (the bank), and turn left to head towards the Hilton.
